Character Profile
“When sis and I were recruited to the project, the first thing they told us is that life as an Advent comes with its sacrifices. I mean yeah, it's probably a lot more dangerous for us than the older members, but we’re trained to handle that. What they don’t tell you is there’s no way to expect just how lonely it is when the only people you can interact with are basically co-workers. Some of us are making do, you could say. Misfit has taken to creating sparring robots to help Xi train, and Giyet made Nine laugh with some joke in the cafeteria yesterday. That guy is wound so tightly, I’m surprised he even knew how to laugh.
Actually, it also seems like Giyet and Ms. Kitcher are much closer than their interactions would suggest. I try not to pry, but it’s pretty hard to not listen in when there’s nothing else to distract me here. Everyone’s thoughts are so loud in this small proximity that it’s more like overhearing than actually eavesdropping. I’ve learned more about the other Advents than I could ever want to know.
Well, except for Sixx. I don’t know how she does it, but I haven’t heard one errant thought from that lady. She’s so cool about everything, like she only ever says (or thinks, in this case) exactly what she wants you to hear. V once called her “unnervingly calculating”. He had that creepy smirk on his face when he said it though, so I think he meant it as a compliment. That guy’s super weird.” - Advent II
Card Mechanics
A new week, a new Advent. Agent Sixx, Artful Dodger is all about deception and sneakiness. But first, let’s talk Resource type. Hers is Genetic Code, represented by the color blue. This resource type has many strengths, including draw power and the ability to halt your opponent’s advances. But in addition to these strengths, there’s a new mechanic that we will introduce today that especially synergizes with Sixx.
Cards of the Genetic Code type, more so than other Resource types, tend to have effects that can be activated from the Resource area, called Resource Effects, in addition to their regular effects. Sixx lowers the cost of Resource Effects by one, which allows decks anchored by this Advent to fully utilize the myriad Resource Effects present in Genetic Code.
But there’s more. Genetic Code decks typically generate a large hand size with due to so many draw effects, but there are also many cards of the same type that allow you to discard cards from your hand to activate devastating effects. If your Advent is Sixx, when you discard a card of the Genetic Code type from your hand, you have the option of moving that card to your Resource area in exchange for discarding an existing resource. This means you have the ability to fix your Resource area in such a way that all of your cards with Resource Effects end up where they belong! You’ll have to choose wisely, though, since Sixx becomes exhausted upon using this effect. That means she is unable to use triggered or activated abilities such as this one until she is refreshed. (Passive abilities still work, though, like her cost reducing ability.) But it’s definitely worth it, because there’s little as intimidating as having a Resource area full of diverse effects that can be activated at any time.
I began this preview by mentioning deception, so it’s about time I mention one of my favorite plays involving Sixx. Many Cenetic Code cards have effects that require discarding cards from your hand. When I have one of these cards in play, I like to hide cards with Resource Effects in my hand so my opponent doesn’t know I have them. I catch them off guard by responding to one of their actions by discarding one of those cards from my hand, and then activating Sixx to send it to my Resource area. Suddenly, I have a response to their action that moments ago wasn’t there!
That is just one way that Sixx allows for trickery and mindgames. Over the course of this week, we will be previewing Genetic Code cards that are useful in any deck built around Sixx. (Speaking of which, Sixx joins the ranks with Xi and Misfit as one of the four available Starter Decks at launch!)
